Description
If you’re after a petrol saw that feels genuinely nimble in the hands, the STIHL MS 151 C-E is built for that exact niche. STIHL positions it as their lightest back-handle chainsaw, aimed at pruning, snedding, hedge-laying and cutting smaller limbs, plus tidy firewood-to-length work where a small, precise cutting setup is a real advantage.
Power comes from a 23.6 cm³ 2-MIX engine (rated at 1.10 kW), in a compact powerhead that weighs 2.8 kg without the guide bar and chain. In day-to-day use, that low weight makes it easier to work for longer, especially when you’re moving around the tree, changing stance frequently, or making lots of short, controlled cuts.
Cut quality is a big part of the MS 151’s appeal. It uses a 1/4″ PM3 saw chain, which STIHL highlights for producing a very precise cutting pattern, helping the saw feel accurate and predictable for finer work.
It’s also designed to be straightforward to start and live with. The C-E spec includes STIHL ErgoStart and a manual fuel pump to reduce the effort and strokes needed when starting, especially after the saw has been sat for a while. Practical workshop-friendly touches like side-mounted chain tensioning, tool-free tank caps, and a service-friendly air filter design are all aimed at keeping downtime low.
